Effective Leadership

School leadership is second only to classroom teaching in terms of its influence on outcomes for pupils. Effective leaders promote an ethos of aspiration and achievement and from that flows effective self-evaluation and school development planning with a focus on imposing outcomes for pupils.

They effectively manage resources in pursuit of sustainability and improvement and ensure staff have opportunities to engage in professional development and to share and learn from best practice.

The distribution of leadership throughout the school and effective engagement with pupils, parents and community are also key practices of effective school leaders.  Browse the programmes to find out how schools approach leadership in their setting and access materials to support your school as it develops a culture of self evaluation and planning for improvement.
